AppRiver Expands Executive Team

Email and Web security provider AppRiver today announced it has expanded its executive team, adding Rocco Donnino and Tom Buoniello, two seasoned professionals in the Internet security space. The pair brings to AppRiver decades of experience in customer and market development, working with some of the industry's biggest players.

"There is a rapidly growing demand for AppRiver's security services as businesses today are faced with new, emerging and complex IT threats," said AppRiver CEO Michael Murdoch. "Rocco and Tom have the right blend of experience, expertise and enthusiasm to answer that demand and help us extend our reach to new markets and partners worldwide."

Both Donnino and Buoniello come to AppRiver from AVG, a leading Internet security firm, and each has worked closely with AppRiver previously.

As Executive Vice President of Corporate Development, Donnino will help create and grow strategic partnerships in the U.S. and abroad. While at AVG, Rocco served as Senior Vice President of Global Strategic Alliances. He was responsible for developing and executing AVG's worldwide business development efforts, working with global partners such as Google, Yahoo, Zynga, Microsoft, Cisco, VeriSign, AMD, and Kaseya. He also has held senior positions with McAfee and SurfControl, and was among the founders of Sybari Software, a messaging AV and content filtering software firm that was later acquired by Microsoft.

Buoniello will serve in the newly created position of Senior Vice President of Product Management. In this capacity, he will lead AppRiver's efforts to bring new products to market and to find new customers for the company's current suite of security services. While at AVG, Buoniello built and nurtured partner relationships worldwide, introducing them to the company's products and features. Prior to AVG, he led the email services product management team for MessageLabs, which was later acquired by Symantec. Buoniello also has served as Director of Product Management for Microsoft. Like Donnino, Buoniello was part of the Sybari executive team, joining the company early on to create the Product Management and Marketing functions.

Donnino and Buoniello will be based in New York, expanding AppRiver's presence beyond its Florida headquarters. Consistently ranked among Inc. magazine's fastest private growing companies in America, Murdoch said that the new positions will help AppRiver meet its strategic development objectives in the months ahead.

"We're thrilled Rocco and Tom have joined our team," Murdoch added. "With their unique skills and deep roots in the security space, they will help us expand AppRiver's presence in existing and new markets across the globe."
