AppRiver, LLC, a leading provider of e-mail messaging and Web security solutions, today announced the company's President and CEO Michael Murdoch has received the Florida Ernst & Young 2009 Entrepreneur of the Year® award in the emerging organizations category. The award recognizes outstanding entrepreneurs who are building and leading dynamic, growing businesses.

Murdoch was selected by an independent panel of judges and the award was presented at a gala event at the Omni Orlando Resort at ChampionsGate on Thursday, June 11, 2009.

"We are proud to recognize the achievements of Michael Murdoch," said Mike Brennan, Ernst & Young partner and Florida Host of the Entrepreneur of the Year Program. "Entrepreneur of the Year award recipients are not only successful in building their own businesses, but also contribute significantly to the strength of our region's economy."

This is the 23rd anniversary of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year awards. The program honors entrepreneurs who have achieved exceptional success in such areas as innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their businesses and communities.

"I am honored to have won this prestigious award," said Murdoch. "It is a reflection of the talent and dedication of the entire AppRiver team-a remarkable group that has shown unyielding commitment to growing the company and advancing our technology since we launched in 2002. Looking ahead, we will continue to be focused on providing businesses with state-of-the-art e-mail and Web security services supported by phenomenal customer care."

AppRiver was founded in 2002 when co-founders Michael Murdoch and Joel Smith, CTO, shared a vision to provide business-grade e-mail and Web security solutions to businesses of all sizes without the need for software or hardware. Their concept of in-the-cloud security solutions was ahead of the curve, providing a lucrative business that has more than doubled each year.

As a Florida award recipient, Murdoch is now eligible for consideration for the Ernst & Young LLP Entrepreneur of the Year 2009 national program. Award winners in several national categories, as well as the overall national Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award winner, will be announced at the annual awards gala in Palm Springs, California on November 14, 2009. The awards are the culminating event of the Ernst & Young Strategic Growth Forum, the nation's most prestigious gathering of high-growth, market-leading companies.
