AppRiver Web Protection Now Fully Equipped with End-User Agent
AppRiver, LLC, a leading provider of email messaging and Web security solutions, today announced the general availability of an end-user agent for its SecureSurf web protection service that combines the best elements of DNS and proxy technology to combat today's most sophisticated attacks.
AppRiver's SecureSurf is an easy-to-deploy hosted solution that does not inhibit Web surfing and safeguards users against malicious sites, viruses, inappropriate content or anything else that might violate company policies.
"IT professionals today are responsible for securing a rapidly growing, highly mobile workforce," explains Joel Smith, CTO at AppRiver. "That's why we designed our cloud security suite to protect every connection their users have to the Internet."
To illustrate, cybercriminals commonly send phishing emails with dangerous Web links, which when clicked attempt to compromise the user's device and possibly gain access to the company's network. According to Smith, AppRiver blocks these threats no matter how advanced the attack method might be.
SecureSurf customers can install the agent on individual machines to ensure each machine is configured for the most accurate website traffic evaluation, even if a user is working remotely or through a non-corporate network. Many public hotspots intercept DNS and/or re-proxy Web traffic, which typically negates traditional Web security products. The SecureSurf agent was specifically designed and tested to guarantee Web protection and policies remain active in such harsh environments.
SecureSurf also allows companies to establish thorough Web surfing policies, monitor Web usage and create whitelists of known good sites. For those websites that appear to be somewhat suspicious, AppRiver will conduct a rapid, detailed content analysis of the URL and page content. Machine-by-machine reporting of Web surfing activities can also enforce safe searching functionality on Google, Yahoo, Bing and Ask search engines.
"Many of our clients face strict computer and network usage policies," said AppRiver partner Eric Montague, president, Executech. "SecureSurf allows us to provide an additional, transparent layer of security that helps satisfy regulatory compliance requirements."
Availability of the SecureSurf agent puts the finishing touches on a set of AppRiver solutions that are highly effective at stopping advanced persistent threats (APTs). Dangerous cyber threats, APTs have the ability to persistently and effectively attack a specific target. AppRiver customers have peace of mind knowing that threats targeting their organization via both email and the Web will be stopped in their tracks, while the agent acts to safeguard the posture of PCs and mobile devices from unauthorized access attempts.
A subscription of SecureSurf that includes both network and agent protection is priced per user per month. Companies that want to deploy the enterprise version of SecureSurf should contact AppRiver at sales@appriver.com for their 30-day free trial.
