Red Herring Magazine Selects AppRiver as One of Ten Private Security Companies to Watch

AppRiver LLC, a leading provider of business email security solutions, today announced that it has been named one of the 'Ten Private Security Companies to Watch' in 2006 by Red Herring magazine. The ranking appeared in the February 6 issue of the weekly business publication devoted to 'The Business of Technology.'

With headquarters in Gulf Breeze, Florida, AppRiver was commended on its growing client list and its ability to provide email security services to thousands of customers without any disruption in the past two years despite hurricanes that have pounded the Gulf Coast region. It was chosen from many security companies monitored by Red Herring throughout 2005 and is the only managed email security service to be named.

"AppRiver is honored to be recognized as an emerging leader in the security space," said Michael Murdoch, CEO and co-founder of AppRiver. "The fact that we can live in a city we love and maintain a successful international business is quite exciting for us."

Murdoch founded AppRiver in 2002 with his partner Joel Smith, who is a native of Pensacola and serves as Chief Technology Officer of the company. AppRiver was founded without funding from outside sources and currently employs 40 people. It remains a privately held managed service provider, specializing in the elimination of spam and viruses for more than 5,000 clients worldwide.

In addition to the Red Herring listing, AppRiver was nominated by CRN magazine as a "Product of the Year Award" finalist for the Best Security Software category in their December 19, 2005 print issue.
